Rustic Camping and Outdoor Adventure

Discover the Beauty of the Black Hills

IMPORTANT WATER ALERT!!

Due to multiple years of drought conditions and minimal snowfall, our water system has been significantly impacted. While we are actively working on long-term solutions to address the situation, we are facing a significantly reduced water supply this summer.

We kindly ask all campers to help conserve water during their stay throughout the summer. Please do not rely on the campground water system to fill your camper or RV water tanks. We encourage guests to arrive with tanks filled whenever possible and to use water thoughtfully while camping.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work together to preserve this valuable resource for everyone at Iron Creek Lake.

A hidden gem in the heart of the northern Black Hills!

Iron Creek Lake is a hidden gem in the northern Black Hills!

It is a unique and beautiful lake of approximately 23 acres (owned by the State of South Dakota, managed by its Game, Fish & Parks), located 12 miles southwest of Spearfish. Our privately owned campground overlooks the lake and offers a relaxed, rustic retreat oriented towards families.

Fishing at the lake is a favorite pastime! The fish reproduce naturally and are also regularly stocked by South Dakota Game Fish and Parks. Rainbow Trout account for most of the fish populating the lake, but nice sized perch and bass can also be caught.

Guest Reviews

Anything less than a 5-star review for this place just wouldn’t make sense. This is hands down one of the best non-commercial campgrounds I’ve ever stayed at. The front office staff? Absolutely top-notch—genuinely kind and welcoming.

Everything here is affordable, including the small on-site store, which has fair prices .. Even the water toy rentals are reasonably priced.

I’m honestly over the moon about this place... This is a must-stop spot: family-friendly, pet-friendly, and downright beautiful!
